Play Therapy Ireland (PTIrl) is Ireland’s most pro-active professional organisation in raising standards and promoting the use of therapeutic play skills and play therapy in a variety of professions and settings. PTIrl performs the role of a governing body and professional play therapy association in Ireland.

PTIrl recognises the need for practitioners at all levels.  Certification and accreditation is based upon successful completion of training and hours of supervised clinical work. see 4 Stage Training Model.

Trainee – €60
If you are undertaking a course accredited by PTUK and working therapeutically with children in a training placement you are required to adhere to PTI/PTUK’s Ethical Framework, Practice Conduct and Clinical Governance procedures and be placed on the Register. This means that your membership should be kept current at all times.
Certified Practitioner in Therapeutic Play Skills – €130
Professionals who have been awarded a PTUK/PTI accredited qualification at least at Post Graduate Certificate level. If you are working in this grade, we require that you adhere to PTUK’s Ethical Framework, Complaint Procedures, Clinical Governance and CPD requirements. You will be included in the PTUK Register approved by the PSA. Your membership must be kept current at all times.
Full Member (Certified) – €145
Professionals who have been awarded a PTUK/PTI accredited qualification at least at Post Graduate Diploma level. If you are working as a Certified Play Therapist we require that you adhere to PTUK’s Ethical Framework, Complaint Procedures, Clinical Governance and CPD requirements. You will be included in the PTUK Register approved by the PSA. Your membership must be kept current at all times.
Full Member (Accredited) – €155
You must have completed a minimum total of 450 hours clinically supervised play therapy practice. We require that you adhere to PTUK’s Ethical Framework, Complaint Procedures, Clinical Governance and CPD requirements. You will be included in the PTUK Register approved by the PSA. Your membership must be kept current at all times.
Approved Supervisor – €70
Trained to PTI/PTUK standards.
PTI Certified Supervisor – €110
Trained to PTI/PTUK standards.
Associate Member – €70
Anyone who is interested in working therapeutically with children but not practising play therapy or therapeutic play. This grade is not included in the PTUK Register approved by the PSA.
